Ava Barros is a junior Psychology major and Brand Communications minor from Summerville, South Carolina. She has a passion for raising awareness for the underrepresentation of indigenous populations and other minority groups around the world. Ava has a strong interest in cross-cultural psychology and gaining knowledge about different cultures. In addition to writing for The Pendulum, she is a member of the sorority Alpha Chi Omega and looks forward to what this year brings!

Mary Grace Nimmer is a senior from Bluffton, SC who is pursuing degrees in Chinese & International Health and Nutrition with a minor in Chemistry. Her interest in international affairs as they relate to global health and human rights policy is what initially drew her to The Pendulum. In addition to The Pendulum, Mary Grace is the Editor in Chief of the Clemson Nutrition Club blog and is an intern for Clemson Football Performance Nutrition. She is also involved in the Clemson Skydiving Club, the Paw Pantry, Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity, the Chinese Language Club, and Clemson CHAARG.

Ian Stewart is a Structural Engineering Graduate Student from Columbia, SC and has written for The Pendulum twice. He has a strong interest in international development and is deeply involved with Clemson Engineers for Developing Countries which engages with communities in Haiti and Guatemala. His current research revolves around repairing aging bridges throughout the state, and after graduation he hopes to continue working on improving our infrastructure.

Society, Culture, And Economics Desk Editor

Clara Noble is a senior English major and Business Administration minor from Jericho, Vermont. As a pre-law student, she is interested in the ways that international affairs are shaped by global legislature and the importance of international awareness with regards to our own lives and governing bodies. Her desire to explore her own international and study abroad experiences in a professional and editorial format is what initially drew her to The Pendulum, and she is excited to continue to contribute to the magazine as a desk editor this fall. Clara is also a member of LUCU (Latinos Unidos at Clemson University), FCA, and an off-campus bible study group.

Gavin is a junior from Summerville, South Carolina majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and minoring in History. While participating in the EUREKA! Program before his freshman year, he was assigned to a political science project. By the end, he wrote a roughly thirty-page report on the subject. This experience made him realize how much he loved writing on international politics, and as a result, he joined The Pendulum as a writer the first semester of his freshman year. He has been an editor for three semesters, and is looking forward to what this year will bring to The Pendulum.

Sabrina DeAbreu is a rising senior from Cherry Hill, New Jersey pursuing a bachelor’s of science in Psychology with hopes of going to dental school in the near future. While Sabrina is new to the pendulum, she is eager to bring news from the world around us to Clemson students in an engaging and interesting way. When she started her freshman year of college, Sabrina made it a personal goal to make a constant effort to become more worldly and educated on news in countries beyond the United States. Apart from her new role on The Pendulum staff, Sabrina loves showing potential new students around the best place in the world- Clemson, and planning events that bring awareness to her sorority's philanthropy.

Jade Killion is a senior Criminal Justice major from Philadelphia, PA. Fall 2021 will be her fourth semester with The Pendulum staff and first semester as Editor-in-Chief! She was immediately drawn to The Pendulum as she has always had an interest in international relations and The Pendulum's mission in further educating Clemson students of the world around them has become a mission of her own. In addition to her role on staff, Jade is extremely involved in Greek-life and the Honors College. Jade is greatly looking forward to this year and the amazing publications she know will result from our amazing writers and fantastic staff!

Amani Altwam is a second-year graduate student at Clemson and she is pursuing a M.A. in History. Amani is originally from the Middle East, Palestine to be exact, but she has been living in Upstate South Carolina for the last eighteen years. She is also involved in the Muslim Students Association at Clemson and is currently serving as President. Amani's passion for writing and learning more about the world is what drew her to being part of The Pendulum.

Hannah Stewart is a first year master's student studying structural engineering. She graduated from Clemson in 2021 with a degree in civil engineering and a minor in English. After completing her degree, she plans to pursue structural design. She is interested in the ways humans interact with and respond to their environment. She is from Chapin, SC and enjoys reading and playing tennis in her free time.

Josephine Rohrer is a junior at Clemson who is studying Economics with a minor in Spanish Studies. She has moved seven times, from towns in New Jersey, to Puerto Rico, to now (seemingly) settling in Beaufort, SC. On campus, Josephine keeps herself busy with her work as a Student Coordinator for the PAL Program, a Student Research Assistant in the Economics Department, an Honors Peer Mentor, and an SST Leader for her sorority, Chi Omega. Josephine's passion for travel and the pursuit of knowledge immediately drew her to The Pendulum, and she cannot wait to see how the magazine continues to grow.

​I am a senior art major who went to VCU for the first three semesters of college. I am from Spartanburg, SC. The summer after my senior year of high school, I traveled to South Korea with one other person to work with missionaries in Seoul. This trip is what sparked my love for other cultures. I am always looking to expand my knowledge of other countries and cultures around the world. I am hoping to learn more about the world while gaining experience in graphic design.

Katherine Harland is a sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida and is studying Architecture and Mathematical Sciences, with a minor in Music. Katherine’s natural love of global travel and diversity was particularly piqued through impactful experiences such as going on an educational trip to Europe and taking a class at Clemson on the history of South Africa. Additionally, involvement in construction and architectural organizations such as Habitat for Humanity have sparked her interest in exploring architecture as a global medium for social, political, and economic change. She is excited to join the staff this fall because of the many opportunities to bridge creative design with global issues.

Hannah Roebuck is a senior political science and religious studies double major from Atlanta, Georgia. She is deeply interested in the intersection of religion and politics in foreign policy with a particular focus on the lived experiences of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. Hannah studies the causes and implications of global migration, refugee resettlement, and sanctuary activism. Hannah is dedicated to storytelling and intersectional analysis, and she is so thankful to contribute to the mission of The Pendulum.
